Kiteboarding

Lessons, lessons, lessons… Lessons are a mandatory step for getting into the sport of kiteboarding. Kiteboarding lessons may seem expensive, but there are many reasons why you should take a lesson over trying to teach yourself. Here are 5 reasons to take a lesson

1. Safety: Don't take a chance on injuring yourself or others -- Instructors have the knowledge to make kiteboarding a safe and friendly venture for students.

2. Working the Gear: Why risk damaging that brand new kite you bought when you can use school equipment? Kites are expensive and are not worth beating up as a beginner.

3. Trying out Gear: Lessons provide the best environment for demo-ing gear before you buy! Most schools have a couple different brands of kites and boards that they work with, so you get to try out various gear as part of your lesson. Don't be shy and ask your instructor(s) about different gear.

4. Kiteboarding Camaraderie: Let's face it -- it's much more fun to learn with someone going through the same challenges and even more fun to share the thrills! By learning with other students, you can meet people to kite with at your level as well as a launch & land buddy.

5. Beach Access: Many schools and lesson programs have private access to the most beautiful and ideal spots in the world to learn to kiteboard. Most of these schools work constantly to establish and maintain positive relationships with local governments, ports, and authorities so you can have clean, safe, and enjoyable surroundings in which to learn to kiteboard. By taking lessons from these accredited schools, we can keep our beaches safe and preserve a sport that is still in its infancy.

"I would like to share this passion with every women I meet. I had to chance to learn to kiteboard in June 2007 at the Wind and Kite School in NB Canada and since my first body dragging session, I have been hooked. I have been trying to explain to other women what it feel like to kite and I can`t even put it in words, to me it feel like I am flying... I am so hooked that I will rearrange my work day to allow me to kite in case they call for a windy day!! I have seen myself kite in very nice warm conditions and also very cold conditions... For women who live in parts of the world were you have 4 seasons this sport can allow to kite in the water and in the snow as well!! Spread the good news about kiting!!"
