World Champion Kristin Boese came to Hood River to do a Strapless clinic during the Strapless Kiteboarding Collective event. The 5-day event brought kiteboard pros from as far as Maui who kite with skimboards, surfboards and wakeskates.... without anything to keep them on the board. The strapless technique requires a fine balance of power in the kite and balanced stance on the board to allow the rider to perform maneuvers in the waves and on flat water.
The women's strapless clinic quickly opened up to a variety of riding topics -- women received tips from the world champion on everything from transitions and jumps to unhooked and style tips. After discussing riding technique and trick tips, the women hit the water for some hands-on assistance. Conditions were perfectly warm and windy for women to hit the water with pro riders Kristin Boese, Tonia Farman, and Laura Maher riding behind and offering tips.
