Day at WKA Intermediate Clinic

Title: Breakthrough Day at WKA Intermediate Clinic
Date: July 2007

It wasn't supposed to be 5 meter conditions, but that's what Mother Nature handed us for Saturday's WKA intermediate clinic, located at a secret boat-accessible only spot in the central Columbia River Gorge. Fortunately, we started early, with two women on the water, and two in the boat, getting tips from on-board clinic coach, Tonia Farman, while WKA assistant Tom Gallegos drove the boat. Thanks Tom! Tonia coaching one of the gals on a backroll:

We had three gals with breakthrough days that included linking transition turns, executing transitions and ollies, and landing a backroll. All six gals got personal one-on-one training on the water, taking turns riding and sitting in the boat to hear tips as we pulled up to each rider to offer coaching. Mira and Jackie hanging out on the boat while we chase and coach a rider on the water:

Just about as we finished, the wind turned up a notch, the swell increased a couple more feet, and it was time for the clinic staff to get on the water and GO BIG! Boat supporters Tom Gallegos and Jim Erjavec went out on 6 and 7 meter kites, while Tonia went on a 7 meter...jumping and jumping and jumping off the massive kickers rolling down the river.

The clinic girls get ready to ride.
